MINUTES OF AUGUST 6, 2026 MEETING

June called the meeting to order at 6:30. Martin Turner said the prayer and led the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a moment of silence for Dr. Jim Burnham and former Mayor Morrissey.

Peggy moved to accept the Agenda, seconded by Tom and approved.
The roll call was called. There were 11 voting members present and two proxies, so a quorum was met.

June noted that there will be a Precinct Development opportunity on August 8th at St Marys Welcome Center presented by the Learning Institute.

Rob Moore will give a full update on the results of the gun raffle at the September meeting. Mr. Hurt was the winner of the AR15.

June introduced Julie Heller, who has been working with Ed on getting the website up and running. Ed reported everything has been moved to the Wix platform, and credited Julie with the web design, appearance and content. Any suggestions for content should be submitted to Ed, Julie, or Winston. Ed is still working on updating the member list.

June thanked Tom and Kelly for their work on the 4th of July booth. The golf tournament has been put on hold until January or February.

Todd gave the Treasurer's report. The balance as of 8/6/26 is $7,075.

Tom noted the Seafood Festival will be October 3, 2026. The deadline to reserve a spot is 9/19/26. The cost will be $125 plus $35 for electrical service. Tom moved to approve having a booth at the Festival and paying the fees. Seconded by Peggy, and approved.

June mentioned there will be a McIntosh County Candidates event the same day, October 3, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. All the major Republican candidates are expected to attend.

Jeri will put together an outline for social media strategy by September 1st.

June introduced the candidates in attendance: Ken Jelley, who is running against Artie Jones for Post 1 on the City Council. Chad Ingram is running for re-election on the council.

June introduced Dr. Ashaki Nichols, who is new to the County and founder of the Redemption Party. She offered to help us with media buys and other campaign activities.

PRESENTATION:
Dr. Camilla Moore, Chair of the Georgia Black Republicans, gave a presentation via ZOOM about the need to increase the number of blacks who vote for Republicans. She noted the changes in demographics in Georgia as large numbers of people from "Blue" states move here. She said "the Black vote will determine election results", and said if we can get 15% of their voters motivated to come out and vote we will be in good shape.

The meeting was adjourned at the end of the presentation, approximately 8:30.
